Nemeth. I got an e-mail from the man himself E.Mr. Nemeth told me it will be at least a year or more before this new edition will be published. He also stated that the linux book would be finished first. This is what pisses me off about amazon. They give releash dates for books that are not finished or anywhere close to being published. This is the fifth book that i was looking foward to buying and the releash date was wrong. Unix systems and Network security was another. The only thing i will use amazon for now is a wish list. I will not order again from amazon. Another thing there customer service department are no help alot of the time. This review refers to 4th edition.
I hate to give 5 stars to any book - but it's deserved!
If you use Unix systems, you need this book in your short reach library. This book is fun and functional as a desktop reference. It covers a bit about the history of the systems, but doesn't bloviate. It's just straightfoward information delivered in colorful and memorable fasion. The book covers System V, Unix, BSD, Linux, all the basics.
Easy for Novice to Understand
I find this book to be very easy to follow. I just started a new Sys Admin job and have to learn UNIX System Administration for the first time.
