What you need to know right now to fix the problem
I don't have a pocket anywhere near big enought to hold this 600 page book. The words 'Pocket Consultant' in the title are interesting. On the otherhand, you don't need the wheeled dolly to cart abound the whole library you needed when you were first learning how to be an administrator.
What this book is for is as a refresher when you need some command or switch or flag that you don't use very often and you can't remember what it is. And for that it's ideal. The stated intent of the author is to provide a book that has what you need to do the administrative task at hand without a lot of extra stuff.
This is the second edition of the book. It has been updated to cover Service Pack 1 and Release 2. These releases had significant amounts of code in them and made numerous changes in how everything worked.
If you have the first edition, you know how much you use it and it's time to upgrade your book just as you did your operating system.
Excellent value
Does an excellent job of covering the most important aspects of Windows administration. Good depth - covers multiple subjects and has plenty of expert advice. I was surprised by how much information is packed into ~600 pages. Concise and portable just like it says. It's the one windows book I use the most.
Win Svr Adm Guide - mrp
. I bought the book as a reference book and it has been able to provide me with easy to find and accurate answers each time I had to refer to it.
