Practical and fun
I've used some "training series" books that seemed to be too basic, taking too long to get past introductory things that any person buying the book should already know. I've used iWork since the first version but I don't do presentations that often so I never delved into some of the really unique features.
While this book does "hand-hold" the absolute beginner, it also gets right into creating presentations and introducing handy shortcuts.
I've only worked through the first chapter but have already learned things I wished I had know in doing some recent presentations.
Well worth the money!.
Real world iWork
The pictures and the instruction are just on time, so You can see for Yourself that you are on the right track. I have spend the last two days in company with this book and I must say it is was a very fun and learning exercise.
This is the best hands-on experience I have had so far - it matches the books from LYNDA. COM.
Best REAL WORLD training for iWork
I'm not sure what that other guy was referring to. I usually don't write a lot of reviews but I felt I had to for this book. I recently had a project where I had to rapidly produce a presentation using iWork. I've never used the software before but this book got me up and running immediately. I had no problem following the instructions and was able to apply what I learned to my project right away.
This is a REAL WORLD book for people that have a general knowledge of similar applications. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME. I impressed the heck out of my client with some simple methods explained by Harrington in the book. The software allows you to do some pretty advanced looking stuff, and this book gives you a real jump-start on how to do it.
If you actually DO the steps in the tutorials without jumping around like crazy, you can be REALLY proficient REALLY quickly.
I went step by step through the book. Harrington gives you a strong foundation and then builds on it. After working through the book, I keep it next to me as a reference.
