Good on CGI theory -- needs better proofreading
I've dabbled in programming a bit, and found this book useful in explaining how CGI worked (an overview of the concept). I have several years experience with the web, html and graphics. But, it was frustrating in parts because Eric (or the typesetter) mades some mistakes and the Guestbook program won't run. I wrote to Sybex and pointed the error out. Just in case you are stuck there - on page 168 he calls a variable "$RecordSize". Then, on page 176 refers to that same variable as "$GuestEntrySize". If you type it the way it's printed - it won't work! I wonder if they tried the program first?.

Excellent - Highly Recommended
This book is genuinely trying to teach you, unlike some books where the author is attempting to show you how clever he/she is. I found this book to be a great introduction to both Perl and CGI programming. Also includes useful examples, and the syntax reference library in the appendix is essential once you are experienced with Perl & CGI. I am very pleased I purchased this book and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be up and running with Perl CGI programming in the shortest possible period.

No fat, full of info.
I have had to contact Customer Support in regards to an error in the book and they advised me that the book was "designed for Windows 95". This book is very good as it not only teaches you how to write good CGI code for web pages but it also teaches you how to integrate your exisiting PERL scripts into it. So they could not answer the question.
